Day 1: Saturday: Cycle Trip, 15km Depart by barge at 1:00pm over the IJ and through the locks to the Ijssel Lake. The barge trip takes about four hours. In the evening, go on a test ride around Hoorn. Day 2: Sunday: Cycle Trip, 30km On your way through North Holland, you will see small villages in a rural landscapes until you embark in Enkhuizen to cross the Ijssel lake in Lemmer in the province of Friesland. In the evening your guide will invite you for a walk in town. Day 3: Monday: Cycle Trip, 25km Friesland is known for its numerous lakes and waterways. You will cycle along canals and a lake called "Tjeukemeer". Your cycle trip ends in the tiny village of Ossenzijl at the edge of the National Park "De Weerribben". It is recommended that you visit the visitor's center of this natural reserve, which is unique in Europe. Day 4: Tuesday: Cycle Trip, 35km Cross the Werribben and continue via Steenwijk to Giethoorn, called the Venice of the North. One of the possibilities here is to rent a "punter", the local type of boat for a trip around the village. After leaving here, cycle to Blokzijl, your stop for the night. Day 5: Wednesday: Cycle Trip, 40km Cycle via the village Vollenhove along some lakes to Zwartsluis. This is a nice, lively town for a break. Take a ferry to Genemuiden and cycle over the Kamper Zeedijk, an old dike, to the 16th century town of Kampen. Day 6: Thursday: Cycle Trip, 55km Your first stop of the day is the splendidly preserved, fortified town of Elburg. Then you’ll travel via Nunspeet to the moorlands of Elspeet and the forests around the estate "Huis te Levenum". Finally you’ll reach Harderwijk, a cozy port that is known for its sea aquarium. Day 7: Friday: Cycle Trip, 45km Start with a short bike trip to Nijkerk. Disembark and cycle along the Veluwe Lake to Spakenburg. This former fishing village has a characteristic harbor and many inhabitants still wearing their traditional costumes. Next, pass Blaricum and cross the wood and moorlands of Table Mountain (a hill). After a short visit in the 14th century fortified town of Naarden, cycle to Almere harbor to board the barge and sail back to Amsterdam. Day 8: Saturday: Depart End of tour after breakfast. |
