Timothy E. Gordon is CEO and founder of Gordon's Guide, www.GordonsGuide.com, the leading publisher on adventure and active travel. A 22-year veteran of the adventure and active travel industry, he is an author and a recognized authority on the subject. Most recently, Timothy appeared in BusinessWeek, Forbes.com, U.S. News & World Report and BusinessWeek Weekend TV.
Timothy's interest in adventurous activities first began at a young age when he became involved with horses, cattle and ranching life. Having developed a love for the outdoors and a desire to share it with others, Timothy was inspired to work within many of the industries listed on this website.
Among his many diverse experiences with horses are professional team roping, calf roping, showing cutting and western pleasure horses, and working as a horse/mule packing and outfitting guide in Yosemite National Park and as an assistant wrangler for a 35-year-old guest ranch in Colorado. He also worked as an equine veterinarian's assistant.
For nine summer seasons, Timothy was as a river guide rafting and kayaking the Rogue, Tuolumne, Animas, Eagle, Merced, Green, Colorado, Kings, American, Stanislaus, Klamath and Pine rivers. He also worked nine winter seasons as a ski instructor and earned his Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Level V Full-Certification under the direction of former National PSIA Demonstration Team coaches Chris Ryman and Jens Husted at the Vail/Beaver Creek ski resorts. He attended the PSIA National Academy held at the Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah and attended the first PSIA summer race camp held at Mt. Hood ski area in Oregon.
Pursuing his passion for adventure, he completed numerous courses and earned additional certifications including a 30-day Outward Bound winter mountaineering survival course held in the Walla-Walla National Forest in Oregon. He is a certified scuba diver through the National Association of Scuba Diving Schools (NASDS) and is certified in advanced cliffside rescue procedures by the California Fire Marshal. He is also a graduate of the Rock Creek Professional Horse/Mule Packing School.
Timothy has also worked as a cross-country ski guide in Brian Head, Utah and as a snowmobile guide in Colorado. Additionally, he has held numerous positions within the guest ranching industry: manager of guest services, activities director, assistant wrangler and general manager.
