High Mountain Free Stone Streams
Have you ever fished a stream where you sincerely believed you were the first to wade it's waters? Paradise Valley rests between the Beartooth and Gallatin Ranges of the Rocky Mountains, carved by the Yellowstone River. Thousands of miles of native, freestone mountain streams begin as a trickle in the high country, picking up flow from ice cold springs, eventually becoming very inviting areas to fish. Many of these very secret freestone streams are just minutes from the ranch and offer even the most distinguished fly fisher an incredible experience.

These local gems are teaming with Cuts, Browns, and Bows. Fish must feed for survival on these waters and therefore are seldom picky when it comes to taking a well presented dry fly in one of the endless pockets or holes. Beautifully colored and highly aggressive fighters these stream bred trout are as pure as it gets. Dry fly fishers especially appreciate the aggressive habits and fighting ability of these colorful fish.

DMR suggests a guided walk and wade day on one of these treasures or they will be happy to steer you in the right direction and allow you to enjoy them all to yourself. Many of the streams are accessed via maintained USFS dirt roads allowing easy day access. There are also endless hiking trails where a fly fisher can combine some photography of waterfalls, canyons, and a wide variety of wildlife. Regardless of you choice, an experience on any of these mountain streams will brand your heart with a memory of what fly fishing should be.

The Blue Ribbon Yellowstone River
A guided float trip on the Blue Ribbon Yellowstone River is surely one of the most memorable trips you will ever take. Each trip is customized to meet your needs and interests, no matter if you are a first time fly fisher or a seasoned veteran, the Dome Mountain Ranch guides will offer you a truly unforgettable trip.

The first 50 miles of the Yellowstone River after it leaves Yellowstone National Park has been referred to as the absolute best trout water in the world, and with good reason. Although referred to as a river, the sections near and running through the ranch are ideal for guided floats. Some clients prefer to stay in the boat all day, while others like to float stretches, which allow opportunities for anchoring the boat and wading some of the limited access waters. Of course Dome Mountain Ranch is happy to make this a reality.

All floats are done in modern, safe and well kept Mackenzie style drift boats which allow a safe and stable area to cast from with lots of room for tight loops! All trips come with a hearty stream side lunch prepared by Dome Mountain Ranch, so you will certainly never go hungry.

There are few other outfitters that have use days and the legal ability to float these upper stretches, which means you will never have to wait in line to get on the water. Because of the location of Dome Mountain Ranch, guests rarely have to rush to be the first on the water and are most times the last boat off the water. Most trips involve less that a 15-minute ride from the ranch, or you can even put in or take out right at the main lodge!

The guides at Dome Mountain Ranch take great pride in being the best and are continually striving to learn and improve. Having the unique opportunity to live right on the water allows all of them to possess a deep and intimate knowledge of insect activity, water conditions and tips. Most of all, DMR's mission is to provide you with an unforgettable day regardless of the fish's cooperation. You will find the Dome Mountain Ranch guides to the cream of the crop with personal skills and more that just the ability to tie on a fly and tell you where to cast. DMR knows you will agree.

Trophy Trout Lakes: Thelma's and Vanessa's
The Beartooth Mountains are well known for the many high country lakes. Dome Mountain Ranch is lucky enough to have two of them right on the ranch. Each lake offers a unique opportunity for all levels of fly fishers. Heavily stocked with Kamaloop Rainbows and Brown Trout, you may have the opportunity to hook fish in the 10-pound class.

The Kamaloop is well recognized for it's incredible fighting abilities. It is not uncommon for this special strain of trout to run you right down to the backing, display several acrobatic jumps and simply give you a "reel singing good time!" Being that these fish are non-selective feeders, all fly fishers will appreciate these accommodating fish making 100 fish days a true reality!

Daily rod fees and limited fishers have allowed these lakes to remain some of the most productive in the valley. Many guests will fish these lakes from shore or rent one of the single-person float tubes and pontoons. A guided day casting trip from a drift boat can also be one of the most enjoyable ways to to fish these crystal clear lakes. Surrounded by majestic peaks and green willows, this is the perfect backdrop for photographs of that monster fish and that "tight line and smile".

World Famous Spring Creeks
Depuy's, Nelson's and Armstrong's are three world famous spring creeks just minutes from the ranch and can be the perfect way complete your stay at the ranch. Limited rod numbers help keep these streams healthy and productive. You may fish these treasured waters with a guide or DMR will be more than happy to reserve some days for you at the lodge.

A wide variety of aquatic activity occurs throughout the year, helping keep the trout fat and happy, thus giving the fly fisher a true opportunity to cast for colorful Rainbows, Browns and Cutthroats in upwards of 10 pounds. Although challenging, the rewards are well worth the effort. The ranch can also add the spring creeks to any existing package with the addition of the rod fee.

Yellowstone National Park
When you are less than 30 minutes from Slough Creek, Soda Butte, and other well known Yellowstone Park Streams it almost seems sinful not to sample at least one day on these pristine waters.

Fully guided walk and wade trips can be added to your itinerary that will provide you with not only incredible fishing, but the chance to view an abundance of wildlife and scenic country free of the normal crowds which frequent the roads in the park. You may also want to combine this trip with seeing some of the local attractions like "Old Faithful", "The Upper Falls" and more. You will not be disappointed with these unique adventures.

Guests are also free to choose and create their own packages.
