Hell's Canyon came by its name legitimately. A few days spent in Hell's Canyon in the summer will have you believing you've died and ended up in the wrong place. BUT - Hell's Canyon in the spring is a totally different story! It's a perfect place for a spring vacation. The high mountains may still be snowed in and inaccessible, but Hell's Canyon in the spring IS accessible and amazing to behold. The canyon hillsides are a lush green, littered with wildflowers of all colors. Sightings of deer and herds of elk are common and it's not unusual to spy a bear or even mountain goats.
The avid fisherman will want to be sure to bring his or her fishing gear, because the Snake River in the bottom of the canyon is one of the Northwest's premier fisheries. It's possible to catch a stringer of bass, change gear and catch a stringer of catfish, break out your pole and catch a sturgeon, all in the same hole on the same day.
As with Cornucopia's other traveling trips, everything is provided. You just bring your personal gear and an eagerness for adventure.
Please allow at least four days for this trip - longer if you have the time.
Start your trip with a stay at the new Cornucopia Lodge.
