Picture yourself at 8,500 feet, riding over a mountain pass and looking down on three crystal clear alpine lakes. This is just part of a typical mountaineer trip. You'll ride along rugged high mountain trails under snow-capped granite peaks and set up camp next to your own private lake or stream. After a day to explore your surroundings, you'll pack up and move to another remote site. The Mountaineer is high-mountain riding and camping at its best.
Cornucopia provides the guide, cook, food, and all the necessary equipment; you just bring your personal gear, appetite (you'll be amazed at the meals), and sense of adventure. The Mountaineer is aimed at the person who seeks a little more excitement. Not all the trails are suitable for everyone and some novice riders will want something tamer.
A minimum of four days is recommended for this trip.

Camp Setup
Guests sleep in dome tents. Cots, chairs and lanterns are furnished.
Dining
There will be a cook in camp to prepare your meals. All food is included in the trip price. Breakfast and dinner are eaten family style around the fire. Lunches are packed to take out on the trail and snacks are available throughout the day. Special dietary needs can be accommodated if pre-arranged.

If you enjoy fishing, opportunities will abound. You may stop by the river for some time to relax and fish, or camp near high alpine lakes. Trained guides will teach you about animal tracks and how to spot wildlife. You just might even see soaring eagles, wild sheep, deer and elk. There are plenty of opportunities for taking pictures in this dramatic country.
