That’s just North of Hontoon State Park, three miles from Blue Springs - home of the endangered Manatee. The St. Johns River offers mile after mile of breathtaking view and pristine beauty. Spanish Moss draped trees line the banks of the river and the many lakes that dot the northerly course of the river. There is an abundance of wildlife: alligators, turtles, otter, deer, and raccoon. You may even see manatee (sea cows) grazing on the grasses along the river’s shore. The natural lush landscape is home to a great variety of exotic birds such as the blue heron, osprey, eagles, hawks and owls. Relax and see the wonders of Florida’s backcountry from the deck of one of the luxurious houseboats. See live alligators basking in the sun in their natural habitat. Explore the warm water springs where the endangered manatee spends winters in the crystal clear 72-degree water.
Fill your days relaxing as you cruise the river from the comfort of your houseboat, or entertain yourself with a variety of activities such as swimming, canoeing and snorkeling. The area provides many places for hiking and backpacking through shaded hammocks. Boats are equipped with Onan generators to provide power for the air conditioner and other electric appliances. Factory trained mechanics expertly check each boat prior to departure to ensure your safety. You will find the houseboats easy to drive, as there is not special license required to do so. A trained instructor will teach you how to operate the boat when you arrive at Holly Bluff.
