Activities There are many things to do in and surrounding the La Fortuna/Arenal area, and the receptionist at Lost Iguana will be happy to help you plan a schedule that will allow you to experience the best of Costa Rica at your desired pace. At The Lost Iguana, they want you to enjoy your stay and experience the beauty of the land and the warmth of the locals. They hope their suggestions help guide you and save you money. Most tours can be purchased from the hotel, and the resort offers discounts on some of the popular tours.

These are Lost Iguana's top recommendations. They hope you also allow time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the jungle from your balcony. The hotel has some beautiful paths that will let you explore the rainforest.

Hanging Bridges
This new attraction is a walking path away from The Lost Iguana Hotel, and they sell tickets at half price to guests only. It is an easy two-mile trail through 618 acres of virgin rainforest. Their trail loops around and boasts a number of impressive bridges, ranging from 16 to 330 feet long. Not for those who are afraid of heights! Early morning and evening guided tours available by appointment only. Their restaurant has great food, reasonable prices, and an incredible panoramic view of the lake and volcano. Entrance fee $20 ($10 at the resort).

Rafting
Both safari floats and exciting whitewater rafting is available. Only 15 minutes from La Fortuna.

Sky Tram, Canopy Aipline, and Hiking
Spectacular views high above Arenal Lake and near the volcano. $60 for an exciting experience you won't soon forget! Highly recommended.

Tabacon Hot Springs
One of the major attractions to the area is Tabacon, as well as some other newly built hot springs. They have used the natural thermal springs that are heated by Arenal volcano to create pools and a series of ponds connected by fast flowing streams and waterfalls. Tabacon has incredibly luscious landscaping and a large area to explore the separate ponds. They also have a large full service spa and restaurant on the property. Because the entrance fee jumped by 30% this year, Lost Iguana recommends waiting until 7:00pm when the prices drop, or go to the Fuentes (part of Tabacon) which is accessed on the other side of the street. It is smaller, but you still enjoy the same heated, fast flowing river with waterfalls and a number of natural pools to enjoy. The entrance fee at the smaller side is $8, the main entrance is $29, until 7:00pm when it drops to $19. The hot springs are especially enjoyable in the rain and in the evening when the very hot water doesn't compete with the sun.

La Fortuna Waterfall
If your legs are in conditions for a steep climb, this is a beautiful waterfall that should not be missed. It is a 15-minute climb down to the base of the waterfall and a 30-minute climb back up. The park is now discouraging swimming at the base of the fall, which had been a popular attraction. Hikers can go a little further down the river where it widens and is a beautiful clear shallow spot for bathing. $6 entrance fee.
