Seville, built along the Guadalkivir River, has several UNESCO classified monuments and a rich Moorish and Spanish heritage. Ronda has a dramatic location and is noted as the birthplace of bull fighting. Gibraltar is a British outpost in the South of Spain. Granada, with her awe-inspiring architectural jewels such as the Alhambra Palace, is sure to be a highlight. Jerez de la Frontera is the capital of Andalucian horse culture and is known for its sherry.

Today, get acquainted with the port town of Malaga or enjoy a full-day optional excursion for an additional fee to Granada, one of the most fascinating cities in Europe and the last Muslim city to fall to the Christians in 1492. Visit the lavish Alhambra, one of the most brilliant jewels of medieval architecture, a series of palaces and gardens built under the Nazari Dynasty in the 14th century. Visit the Cathedral with its Royal Chapel where Isabel and Ferdinand are buried, the Monastery of La Cartuja and many churches built by Moorish craftsmen after the Reconquest in Granada's unique "mudejar" style. In the afternoon, leave Granada to return to Malaga. Overnight in port. Note that today's optional excursion to Alhambra and Granada must be pre-booked with payment at least three months prior to departure.

Morning arrival in Porto Banus. Take the full day optional excursion for an additional fee to Ronda, 31 miles inland, which retains much of its historic charm, particularly its old town and the nearby 18th century Puente Nuevo. Stroll around the arena and museum of Plaza de Toros, birthplace of modern bullfighting. Then visit an elegant cloistered 16th century convent and old Ronda with its cobbled streets lined by stunning town mansions, some still occupied by Ronda's titled families such as the Casa de Don Bosco. Walk to the leafy Plaza Duquesa de Parcent, which boasts a convent and two churches, including the toy town bell tower of the Iglesia Santa Maria de Mayor. Late in the afternoon there is time to visit Marbella, one of the most cosmopolitan European ports. Overnight in port.

Consider an optional half-day excursion in the "Rock” and take the cable car from the base to the summit of Gibraltar for a breathtaking view while being suspended in mid-air. At the Top Station of the cable car, learn about the geography of this British colony. Travel to the Middle Station and the sanctuary of Gibraltar’s older inhabitants, the Barbary apes, roaming free around the station. Midday, begin the sail to Seville with a swim stop along the way. Overnight at sea en route to Seville.

This morning, drive inland for the full-day optional excursion to Seville, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, where Moorish and Spanish art and culture have left their mark. Today's optional excursion will bring you to the Cathedral, the Alcazar Palace and its Andalusian gardens, the Maria Luisa Park and the quaint and elegant district of Santa Cruz. Late in the evening return to Cadiz. Overnight in port.

Today's optional excursion is a full day spent exploring Seville and Jerez de la Frontera, famous for its wines, horse breeding and flamenco. Visit the Alcazar and the cathedral in Seville before moving on to Cadiz's white and blue buildings, rich with history and culture. Guests remaining on board take the day to sail to Cadiz, arriving in the evening to rejoin those on land. Overnight at sea to Portimao, Portugal.

Arrive into Portimao midday. Today's optional half-day excursion is to Silves, largely destroyed by a 17th century earthquake. Marvel at the centuries-old Moorish castle complex with an underground water reservoir, a 13th century cathedral built by Alfonso X of Castile on the site of a former Mosque and a strong 15th century bridge over the Rio Arade. In Silves, take time to browse the historic exhibits at the Museu Arqueológico. Leave Silves and travel into the Serra de Monchique to reach the picturesque city of Monchique nestled between two hills. The city retains its 16th century charm with cobbled streets and small doorways housing various artisan trades. There is a 17th century Franciscan monastery overlooking the town and a 16th century Parish Church decorated with hand-crafted blue ceramic tiles. Return to Portimao for a late lunch and leisure time in the afternoon for shopping and swimming. Overnight in port.

Disembark in Portimao at 9:00am for an approximately 3-hour escorted bus transfer to Lisbon, Portugal, that should arrive at approximately 12:30pm. Continue your travels through Europe or head home.
