ITINERARY

Day 1: Prague - Check-In & Sightseeing
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic

After you check-in we will meet at the reception and set out for a two-hour introductory walking tour of Prague with a professional guide. In the evening, we will meet for our orientation meeting and welcome dinner.

Day 2: Prague - Cervena Lhota - Nova Bystrice
Nova Bystrice, Bohemia, Czech Republic

After a breakfast at our hotel, we transfer to beautiful Southern Bohemia. We start our day with a visit to the romantic chateau of Cervena Lhota with its magnificent gardens. After the visit, we set out on the road, riding on small, curvy country roads until we reach Jindrichuv Hradec. After our visit to this lively historical town, we set out again on small country roads, this time through the slightly hilly, magnificently pristine countryside called "Czech Canada" for its beauty and sparse population. We arrive in Nova Bystrice, a small, charming town where time has stood still.

Day 3: Nova Bystrice - Slavonice - Dacice - Telc
Telc, Moravia, Czech Republic

There are some climbs ahead of us today but the rewards are more than worth it. First, after a short ride from our hotel, we visit the Gothic Landstejn Castle, originally built in the 12th century as a fort. The spectacular views of the surrounding countryside from the top of the castle's tallest tower are worth the climb. Next we ride to Slavonice, beautifully preserved little historical town nicknamed the Renaissance Pearl. We’ll take a break here and visit the town's main Renaissance square. After some more riding, we arrive at the remarkable 13th century town of Telc, also called the “Moravian Venice”. A guided tour of the splendid Telc Chateau awaits you in the afternoon. In the evening, you can take a stroll around the town’s main square and have a beer or glass of wine in one of the many restaurants or cafes.

Day 4: Telc - Znojmo
Znojmo, Moravia, Czech Republic

Today, we cycle through the moderately hilly and picturesque Czech-Moravian Highlands, with many small towns and enchanting villages along the way. For architecture enthusiasts, there is plenty to see on the way today (from Gothic, through Renaissance, to Baroque styles). Eventually we enter the major wine region of southern Moravia and arrive in its main center of Znojmo with its architecture dating back to the 11th century. We have a delicious meal at our 4-star hotel complete with pool and sauna.

Day 5: Znojmo - Vienna
Vienna, Austria

We leave Znojmo traveling southeast along the Czech-Austrian border. Eventually, we cross the border to Laa a.d. Thaya, an Austrian spa town, and pedal through the Weinviertel region famous for its orchards and vineyards all the way to Stockerau. From here, it's only a short distance (10 miles) along the famous Danube bike path into the alluring capital city of Austria.

Day 6: Explore Vienna
Vienna, Austria

Today we enjoy sightseeing Vienna! This former capital of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, Vienna has the reputation of being a cosmopolitan city that offers a friendly atmosphere, ornate buildings, classical music at its best, wondrous Viennese coffeehouses and lots of history.

Day 7: Vienna - Bratislava
Bratislava, Slovak Republic

We leave Vienna and follow the Danube River along flat, riparian woodlands that alternate with quiet meadows. We then arrive to the city of Hainburg, the most easterly town of Lower Austria. We cycle past the Devin Castle at the confluence of the Danube and March Rivers before crossing the border into Slovakia. Shortly after we arrive in its charming capital of Bratislava. Before dinner we enjoy a guided tour of the historical city center.

Day 8: Bratislava - Velky Meder
Velky Meder, Trnava, Slovak Republic

We leave Bratislava and follow the Danube on a bike path. We enjoy the rich fauna and flora and experience the countless quiet nooks that give the region a poetic magic. When the paved bike path ends, we join small roads cycling past enchanting farming villages until we reach the popular spa town of Velky Meder. We visit its thermal spa in the afternoon.

Day 9: Velky Meder - Esztergom
Esztergom, Komarom-Esztergom, Hungary

Today we continue following the Danube bends, passing the town of Komarno, one of the oldest settlements in the Carpathian Basin. Traveling eastward, we follow the Danube along its northern bank until we reach Sturovo. From here it's just a short ride across the Maria Valeria bridge into the ancient royal town of Esztergom, known as the pearl of the Danube bend. Esztergom has a rich history dating back to 970 AD.

Day 10: Esztergom - Budapest
Budapest, Hungary

After a breakfast in our hotel, we transfer by bus into Budapest. We enjoy most of the day sightseeing of this last big city on our tour before a tasty farewell dinner at our hotel on the Danube River.

Day 11: Depart Budapest
Budapest, Hungary

The trip is officially over after breakfast.
