|Adventure Travel > Bill Dvorak Rafting & Kayak Expeditions > North Platte River: 2 Days of Guided Float Fishing in Wyoming & Colorado|
Cast yourself in a new direction on a fly fishing vacation (or spin fishing trip) with Dvorak Expeditions. We offer float fishing trips on some of the wildest and most productive trout fishing waters in the West on six rivers in Colorado, Idaho and Utah including on those awarded “Gold Medal” status by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the Dolores River and the Gunnison Gorge on the Gunnison River.
Fly fish or spin fish for a half day or up to 5 days. We are happy to customize your fishing experience to give you the best value and variety in western trout fishing. Our fishing guides are experienced professionals who know the best spots to fish depending on the specific river and time you choose to cast off. Our guides and boats are set up specially for a maximum of two anglers. We use inflatable rafts as our craft of choice but also have drift boat “Dories” available by special arrangement on certain rivers. You are welcome to bring your waders for wade/walk fishing near camp or offshore during the day.
Our trips are fully catered including all boating equipment, delicious meals and beverages. Once on shore, we take care of the camp chores and cooking while you kick-back or keep on fishing to your heart’s content. Fishing reels, rods, flies and gear we recommend you use can be rented from us or you are welcome to bring your own. A valid fishing license must also be purchased in the state you wish to fish in which we are happy to help you with.
North Platte River : 25-35 miles...
Amidst the Gold Medal and Wild Trout waters of the North Platte, you can fish from Colorado right into Wyoming. This mountain river at 8,000 feet offers a perfect combination of whitewater thrills and trout fishing action.
Day 1: North Platte River Float Fishing, Nature & WildlifeNorth Platte River, Colorado, United States
Arrive at put-in location (Routt County Launch Site) at 7:00 a.m. Your guides will meet you and issue your dry bags that you can transfer your personal equipment, clothing etc. into. After packing your gear up, the guides will load and tie them into the raft. You will be fitted with life jacket, rain jackets and pants and your party will have a safety talk to alert you to the river etiquette, dangers, and safety awareness for an enjoyable trip. You will be introduced to your guide and which raft or kayak will be yours for your journey.
Departure for the day will be about 7:30-8 a.m. Around mid day you will be stopping for a well-earned delicious deli-style lunch and a break to enjoy the surrounding pine-forested corridor. You will see more wildlife on this river than any other Dvorak's runs. Keep an eye out for the Bald Eagles, Deer, Elk, Coyote, Fox, Beaver, Bear, Cougars all of which have been spotted in years past.
The trout fishing is hard to beat due to some extremely inaccessible sections we raft through. The surrounding area has a long history of wild west stories of cattlemen who have made millions from the fertile land and still run some of the largest cattle ranges in the country from these valleys. Because of its mountain setting, it offers the clear water, pristine river corridor and solitude which makes it a great float fishing trout river, complete with the excitement of some of the best whitewater in the west.
Day 2: Good Morning!North Platte River, Wyoming, United States
The sounds of nature will wake you this morning. That, and the smell of fresh coffee and bacon sizzling to bring you to the kitchen for the first time today. Guides will make the call "Coooffeee!" for those who just can't seem to wake easily. After breakfast your guides will clean up, pack up and reload the rafts with your gear and help you pack up tents, etc. Once your personal gear is packed into the dry bags, you'll bring them down to the rafts and you will launch on Day 2 of your trip.
Enjoy more float fishing with views of ranch lands, wide meadows and rolling hills. After lunch, once again about mid day, you will meander downstream to the final take-out point where your vehicle will await you or Dvoraks' van will be waiting to return you back to the start point to retrieve your vehicle. We can never know what the river will teach us or show us, for each trip will open new adventures every time. Thank you for joining Dvorak's on this adventure.
1 to 3-day trips are available, please visit our website for details.
The rafts will be set up with only 2 anglers per raft and the pace of your journey down the river will depend on the quality of the fishing area. You will join the other guests rafting for hikes, lunch and camp at night. Otherwise you will most likely keep your own pace throughout the day.
