Salta and Jujuy Provinces are located in the far northwestern region of the Argentine Republic. The Salta Province is home to a number of natural, social and historic attractions. The city of Salta, "La Linda" ("the beautiful"), is both an important tourist destination and the centre point for visiting the rest of the province. Due to its particular location, forming sort of a ring between the Andes Mountain range to the west and the Argentinean-Paraguayan chaco to the east, it comprises an enormous climatic and geographic variety.

Jujuy is a province of Argentina, located in the extreme northwest of the country, at the borders with Chile and Bolivia. The only neighboring Argentine province is Salta to the east and south. Tourism in the area brings a number of Argentine tourists, as well as tourists from other South American countries, Europeans and Americans. Apart from the fantastic contrast of land colors and formations, tourists are also attracted by the strong aboriginal roots of Jujuy's culture. Aymará and Quechua cultures coexist in the area, and ruins of the Incas are well conserved.
