WELCOME MESSAGE

From the Publisher

Welcome to Gordon's Guide. Web life is a Catch-22. We're glad to have you visit our site, but we really don't want you to stay here too long. Let me explain ...

With the introduction of the Internet and the barrage of high tech products introduced to us daily, it's easy for us all to get farther and farther away from Nature and the excitement and beauty she has to offer us. It seems, in our rush to stay technologically adept, we lose part of ourselves to this electronic world. As we travel down the information highway, we leave more and more of our connection to the natural world behind, eating the dust of its man-made electronic counterpart. Computers, cellular phones, pagers and faxes were designed for efficiency, to free up our time-time to spend doing the things we enjoy with our families, friends and on our own. Instead, we are becoming enslaved to keeping abreast of the latest technological breakthroughs or we risk falling behind. Add to that the creation of satellite television networks and the hundreds of programming channels available to us today, and it could be days before we feel the sun or wind on our face.

For me, the founder of this site, the simple times seem to stand out as the most memorable ... a horseback ride through a sun-drenched forest after a fresh early morning rain; the icy embrace of the river as our raft is challenged by a backwashing whitewater rapid; the smell of morning coffee a brew on the campfire; the exhilaration of a 50-mile bike ride through a desert on an early spring morning; making first ski tracks after a powdery snowstorm; hearing our canoe paddle break the silence of the glassy waters as we glide across a wilderness lake; or laying under the stars listening to the crickets singing their special lullabies as the crackle of the campfire plays backup.

Our goal in writing Guide Books and creating this Web site was not to be an overseer of quality or to cast an opinion about one company's services over another's, but to help each company present themselves in their own light and to provide you with the greatest selection of vacation providers anywhere-a selection of opportunities to briefly leave the fast-paced, frenzied electronic world behind and to go out on your own in search of fun.

10,000 trips, 3,000 destinations, 126 countries-1 Website … at GordonsGuide.com.

Now go, discover your adventurous side, whatever that may be, and remember as you delve into our vast selection of adventure and active travel "once your mind has expanded, it can't go back."
