Overview
For over 21 years, Thornton's Whitewater Rafting Resort has been providing one of the most thrilling and memorable whitewater rafting experinces in the entire Midwest. Rafting trips are run daily on the Roaring Rapids section of the Peshtigo River and are guaranteed to include whitewater rapids, gentle stretches of river that last only long enough for you to catch your breath and enjoy the spectacular beauty and wildlife of the area.
Their professional, friendly staff will show you what "rapid transit" is all about in the best quality equipment available, including Funyaks, the next best thing to kayaking. Funyaks are single person, self-bailing inflatable kayaks. No experience is necessary for these stable little boats, yet you get all the fun-packed action of a kayak.
Camping and Cabins
Catering to the outdoor enthusiast, Thornton's Resort and Campgrounds offers four modern two-bedroom cottages with full shower, wood heat, TV, microwave, bed linens, complete kitchen facilities and all cottages have large yards with a private firepit and picnic table. They also have two fully furnished three-bedroom cabins that sleep up to ten people. Thornton's large, wooded campground is adjacent to the resort, with electricity, water, large, modern restroom/shower facilities, wooded group sites and individual sites with water and electric.
Weekend Entertainment
Thornton's Resort features live entertainment, either a D.J. or bands, weekends starting May through Labor Day.
Fun Activities
Other fun activities offered are sand volleyball courts, basketball, hiking, biking, swimming, paintball, and snowmobiling. Thornton's Resort provides some of the best Class A musky lakes in the state of Wisconsin. You are able to fish for walleye, bass, perch, northern pike, and muskellunge in one of the 204 lakes and flowages or in 100 miles of the Peshtigo or Menomonee Rivers that are found in this part of the state. In addition, there are a variety of activities in the area including horseback riding, golfing or site seeing in one of 11 County Waterfall Parks.
