Overview
Safely Guiding California’s Finest Rivers for More Than 20 Years Tributary Whitewater Tours prides itself on the excellence of well-qualified and personable employees. Tributary offers a large variety of river rafting trips, from warm weather express runs to two and three-day vacations, fully equipped and catered. Each trip is carefully geared to meet your level of experience and sense of adventure. Choose from gentle floats, suitable for the entire family (including the very young or old), or exciting and adventurous outings for the whitewater novice, to the exhilaration of careening down a Class V canyon for the expert boater. With so many rivers to choose from, you’ll be sure to fine the right trip for you and your group with Tributary.
Rafting brings out the best in people. Tributary feels that people respond to the beauty and challenge of the river, and in doing so, discover the best in themselves. Come and experience the wilderness in a way you will never forget. No highway takes you as deeply into the splendor of the forests and mountains as do the life-giving tributaries of the rivers. A surging mountain river touches nature in a way even the most remote back-roads and trails cannot. Forget about the traffic, the crowds, finding a parking space. Let Tributary show you a better way.
Tributary provides all the necessary equipment; top quality Coast Guard approved life jackets, helmets for Class IV and Class V trips, waterproof bags and boxes, and the most advanced self-bailing rafts, which are more maneuverable and comfortable in big water than conventional raft types and are always used on Class IV and Class V water trips. During periods of low water, smaller rafts are available, offering more excitement in smaller waves. On Class II-III runs, inflatable kayaks are often provided for sharing, but these may be reserved for sole use for an additional fee (water levels permitting).
Dan Buckley has been operating Tributary Whitewater Tours since 1978, and he has an active, adventurous son Scott, who is now a young teen and a veteran rafter. Scott went on his first river trip on the Rogue when he was just 9 months old, so though Tributary offers some of the toughest whitewater in California, they have also learnt from experience about family rafting trips too. Both the owner and the guides spend their vacation time on a river somewhere, and love to share their enthusiasm for the rivers and their surrounds.
Tributary Whitewater Tours operates under permits from the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Forest Service (Klamath, Six Rivers, Shasta-Trinity, Tahoe and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forests), California Department of Parks & Recreation, Nevada County and El Dorado County.
