Overview

As the Northeast's leaders in outdoor adventure, Zoar Outdoor sets the standard for fun and exciting raft trips within three hours of Boston and New York. Their friendly professional staff, combined with their riverside basecamp in the scenic northern Berkshires and their over 15 years of accident-free operation, make them the best choice for your next family or group adventure.

They raft on six different river sections from April through October and offer trips for beginner to advanced rafters. They have guaranteed whitewater releases on the Deerfield River throughout the summer season due to an agreement with the local hydroelectric company. They also rent sit on top kayaks for adventurers who want to enjoy the river on their own craft.

Zoar's raft trips include delicious homemade lunches with Joel's famous salsa, a selection of cheeses and cold cuts and seasonal offerings including squash bisque, chili and pumpkin bread.

The pristine valley of the Deerfield River offers lots of great outdoor options including kayaking and rock climbing. Zoar Outdoor's programs range from a nationally known kayak school to rock climbing clinics and bike rentals. Kayak clinics start off gradually with stroke instruction on flatwater and then advance to moving water and whitewater as the group progresses. Rock climbing adventures emphasize fun and safety by teaching essential rope handling skills followed by movement on the rock.

Zoar Outdoor's bike rental program offers rides in the local area or a 25-mile downhill ride from Heartwellville, Vermont along the Deerfield River, ending at Zoar Outdoor. This scenic trip has spots for swimming, picnicing and watching the kayaks, canoes and rafts on the river along the way.

Zoar Outdoor is a full-service adventure resort, offering on-site camping and lodging in an 1850s house next to their base on the Deerfield River. Whether you're out for the day, the weekend or the week, make Zoar Outdoor the choice for your next adventure!
